One Day - A GHG reduction project
-
Although, Vancouver is technically not a "small community", the One Day brand and approach is open source for any community who wishes to use it.

What is this?
The One Day program is the City of Vancouver's community engagement process in support of its Community Climate Change Action Plan. The goal of this plan is to reduce community green house gas (GHG) emissions 6% from 1990 levels by 2012. The progress made toward this goal is outlined in The 2007 Climate Protection Progress Report.
Why is this useful?Although Vancouver is obviously not a "small community", One Day is an open source brand and approach that is meant to be adopted by other communities, organizations and municipalities. Because much of the preperation work has been done already, communities can save money and reduce by implementing their own "One Day" program.
Who started it and when? The program was started by The City of Vancouver in October of 2005.
